Family Dusk Dash

The Metro Milers are taking to the track this summer for a great event for all. Come join us at Edwardsville High School on Wednesday, July 7th evening for the Inaugural Family Dusk Dash. This great event features kids fun runs, a middle school only 800 meters, high school only mile and an open mile for the adults. So grab the kids and those old racing shoes for some fast racing.

New Club Singlets!!

New Metro Milers' club singlets are coming! We will be ordering new club singlets in the coming week. This year's singlets will be the Asics Core Singlet again but new colors. See link for this year's colors. Singlets will only be $12! Money will be collected at the time of pickup. If you are interested in ordering a club singlet for yourself or family member please reply back with you size, color style and quantity no later then Wed, May 12th. The singlets are expected to be available for the Run for Bonifest 5K to show off.

St Patrick's Day 5mi Run & Tailgate

It's that time of year again for the St. Patricks Day Parade/Run, and we plan on having some IRISH fun afterwards with a tailgate.

We will meet at Bella Milano parking lot in Edwardsville, at 7 AM Saturday March 13, 2010 to caravan to the Michelob ULTRA St. Patrick's Day Parade 5 Mile Run in downtown St. Louis. We will be parking in the parking lot next to Al Hrabosky's Ballpark Saloon adjacent to Busch Stadium. The run will start at 9am, at Broadway between Walnut & Clark Street (Ballpark Village). After the run join us back at the parking lot for tailgating, and grilling hamburgers, hot dogs and portabella mushroom caps provided by the Metro Milers. We are asking everyone to bring a side dish to share, as well as your beverage of choice.
If anyone has a portable grill, fun "tailgating" games (Washers, Bags, hillbilly golf...etc) please let us know ASAP (if we have more than one game-GREAT we could do a tournament even?).
If you are unable to caravan, but would like to join us for some Irish fun, directions can be sent out upon request.

Route 66 10K Race Commitee

It's that time of year again to start planning the 2010 Route 66 10K on June 12th. We will have our first race planning meeting this Wed, Feb 24th at 6:30pm. Any club member interested in the organization of this year's event should attended. Areas that a chair person will be assigned to will be; course logistics, volunteer coordinator, sponsorship, marketing, post-race setup and finish line crew. If you are unable to attend please let me know. We will plan to have committee meetings twice a month and then weekly leading into the race. I look forward to another great race this year.

R2R - We're in!!

Great News! The club has received a late team entry for this year's River to River Relay on April 17th!
With club membership growing this year and a large interest in particiapation for the event and only 8 spots to fill, we will be doing a selection process to determine the team. If you are interested in being on the team please email the club no later then Feb 28th. At that time the Board will randomly select names until our mixed team is filled (minimum 3 of one gender). A male and female alternative will also be selected, but once the team is selected the roster will be final. All members selected for the team must have the their 2010 membership dues paid by March 7th.
Race plans (lodging, travel plans and lineup) will be announce once the team is set.

Volunteers Needed

The club will be race timing the Metro Tri Club's new event the Trend N Tracks Off-Road Biathlon and 5K on March 27th. We will need several club members to help out at the finish line with the timing. More details will be sent out closer to the event. If you are available please let Rich know.

Club Marathon/Half Marathon Trip

As the club has done in the past, will take a club trip to a large marathon / half marathon in the Midwest. In 2007 & 2008 the club chose the St. Jude Memphis Marathon in December as the club trip. Last year, things fell thru and an official trip was not planned. This year the Board wants to select the race by February so accommodations can be made and individuals can start training for it. We are looking for ideas so send us some races you would like to run this year. The Board will select 5 races from everyone's ideas and a poll will be sent out next month to vote to the race.

It's that time of year again; join us for the third annual MMMCLRP*! Don’t be a cotton headed ninnymuggins! Put down the spaghetti with syrup long enough to join all the good little elves for a fun run & festive time.

This family party is a must attend of the year for the club, and should not be missed.

This year, we’ve decided to go potluck, so please bring a dish to share, and include what you’re planning to bring with your rsvp to help party planners party plan. Please byob for any grown up beverages you care to have.

As always, the highlight of the evening will be the white elephant gift exchange, so dig through the basement & try to beat the awesomeness of a light up Santa Bacardi bottle. (On the mantle of yours truly!)

For those new to this fest, the fun run is just that; easy paced and playful, no one is qualifying for Boston at this soirée.

So, please:
1.) RSVP to msuess@gmail.com with how many to expect & the dish you intend to bring so I may help the Dockerys coordinate

2.) Don’t forget the white elephant gift exchange! Please, bring one gift per family to trade. The more ridiculous, the better!
We hope all will join, we haven't yet exceeded anyone's home's capacity, but we like to try! I especially encourage our newer members to join us; this party is always a great time.

I apologize if this is duplicate information for anyone, but wanted be certain everyone received their invitation to the party at my house this weekend following the Freaky 5K!

How better to celebrate Halloween than by dressing up in a scary/crazy/sexy/funny costume, running a race in said costume, then joining your favorite metro monsters for a bash???DO join us for the Freaky 5K After Party at Suess Manor, in the land where horseradish & the catsup bottle reign on high. Party agenda includes recapping the ghosts of races past, exchanging toenail horror stories, and perhaps playing some creepy Wii. (That really DOES look like Doc!)It is my privilege to host said event, and I will be providing a beverage friendly to the little ghouls, a small amount of Satan's Brew (aka Blue stuff doctored up H-style), haunted chips -n- salsa, and spooky no bake cookies.Please, bring an appetizer or dessert to share if you care; and BYOB otherwise.Hoping you can join us for fun so good it's scary!!!!
